Alterations for Bridal Attire (DONE BY PRIVATE CONTRACTORS)
For most women, their wedding dress is the first and perhaps only garment they wear that is altered just for them and fits absolutely flawlessly. That's part of what makes a wedding dress so special! To make the process as easy as possible for our brides, we have contacts for seamstresses that we have worked in conjunction with for over 20 years. One-on-one fittings take place in the seamstress’ home (not here in the salon) with specialists who have worked with hundreds, if not thousands, of brides and wedding dresses. The seamstresses also love to help with bridesmaids, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, flower girls, and any other special occasions wear. Below is some important information regarding preparation for alterations.
Alterations Information: Recommended by the seamstresses
Contact the seamstress directly (we have a list of ladies to share with you.)
BRIDAL alterations should begin eight weeks before the wedding.
BRIDESMAIDS, MOTHERS, AND FLOWER GIRLS alterations should begin four to six weeks before the wedding.
To begin alterations, you must have with you: shoes and any undergarments you will wear with the gown.
If you choose to have bra cups sewn into the dress, that is something that can be purchased here at the salon.
Beyond this, you will pay the seamstress for her service. The seamstress will give you your charges at the end of your alterations appointments with the amount due. You will then pick your gown up from their home.
Although we have worked in conjunction with these seamstresses for over 20 years, they are not contracted with Bridal Traditions, therefore, you are always welcome to take it to any other professional seamstress.
